Tantsude nimekiri (sulgudes
ettehõikaja antud lühikirjeldus)
1. Circle Waltz
(We
formed a circle and the men
passed the lady on their left into their partners position. The
dance
included turning into the centre, ballroom hold chasses and eventually
waltzing
on. A slow pleasant dance.)
2. The Old Swan Gallop
(This
was couple facing
couple in a circle (spokes of a wheel) around the room. Number
two couple
separated and ones galloped between them and back, then ones separated
and twos
then galloped between the ones.)
3. Horse's Branle
(The
snake-like dance is a very
old 16th Century dance. This was the 8
person horse-shoe formation dance with a jumping step to start followed
by the first
person “threading the needle” (weaving) through the others to then join
the end
of the line and allowing a new line leader.)
4. Three to Meet
(This
was to a Scottish style
tempo, square set dance – Each man with two ladies. It involved
switching
ladies to the opposite man, setting to your partner and dancing reels
with each
man finally jumping on the next two ladies on a the next side of the
square.)
5. Oxo Reel
(It was
the dance that had the
recurring “O X O” formation chorus.)
6.
Gathering Peascods
(The first of
the two older “Playford” style
dances that had a grand courtly feel. This started
with a circle slipping
to the left, then back to the right. It also featured inner
circles and
clapping in the middle.)
7. Black Nag
(The
second of the two older “Playford” style
dances that had a grand courtly feel. It was the
final dance of the
night and involved three couples leading up and back, swapping corners
with
lots of “turning single”. )
